Fufu Festival — A Taste of Ghana in Ottawa
Akrobonsu and the Ghanaian Association of Ottawa (GAO) invite you to the Fufu Festival, a joyful afternoon celebrating Ghanaian food, music, and culture at the beautiful Maple Hill Urban Farm in Bells Corners. Whether you grew up on fufu and light soup or you're tasting it for the very first time, there's a warm welcome and a full plate waiting for you.
Come hungry — we're serving up the classics: fufu with rich soup, banku and okro, meat pies, puff puff, and refreshing sobolo and brukina to cool you down. Between bites, enjoy a live DJ, music, drumming, and dancing as we bring a piece of home to the capital.
New this year — a 5KM race! As a side attraction, we're kicking off the day with a 5KM race at 1:00 PM, right before the festival begins. It's free to join and open to runners, joggers, and walkers of all levels. Come move with us, then stay to eat and celebrate.
We're also honoured to welcome special guests, including the Vice-Chancellor of Carleton University, representatives from the African Studies Institute, the former Rector of Ghana Institute of Journalism, and diplomats from the Ghana High Commission.
Bring your family, bring your friends, and bring your appetite. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
